E-Net Philippines accompanied these three Mangyan women leaders as they receive their organization’s accreditation as members of the People’s Council in LGU Victoria, Oriental Mindoro – Victoria, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines

The 3 women self-help groups (WSHG) -Samahan ng mga Kababaihang Mangyan from Barangay Concepcion, Pamuwisan Kapyan Agpaysarigan Mangyan Tadyawan Association (PAKAMATA) from Barangay Loyal and Samahang Mangyan Kababaihan (SAMAKABA) from Barangay Alcate are among the 11 WSHG formed, organized and capacitated by E-Net during the course of its project implementation in the past 3 years in Oriental Mindoro. They have received trainings on Mangyan rights to health and education, negotiation and communication and gender equality. They also managed to request and receive further trainings on basic financial management and livehihood from various government agencies including DTI, BFAR and DAR, among others. The accreditation at the People’s Council is a step to claim their rights to participate in planning and decision making at the municipal level. Municipal Councilors Hon. Mercedita Dumas and Hon. Israel Ortega ensure continued support of the Sangguniang Bayan to the WSHGs.
